X adds a Paid Partnership label for sponsored posts, giving creators a built-in disclosure option and making content more transparent for followers.
X is adding a “Paid Partnership” label for sponsored posts. Up until now, creators mostly relied on hashtags like #ad or #sponsored, which worked… sometimes. Not the clearest format, and a bit of a guessing game for followers.
Here’s how it works: creators can toggle on a *content disclosure* or *Paid Partnership* setting while composing a post, or add it via the three-dot menu on existing posts. Once enabled, a “Paid Partnership” label appears directly below the post content. No hunting through hashtags, no guessing.
This replaces unreliable manual hashtags with a built-in, consistent disclosure. Followers get more transparency, creators stay compliant with advertising rules like FTC guidelines, and there’s less chance of someone feeling misled by an undisclosed promotion. Less chance, not no chance.
X is rolling it out gradually, starting March 2, 2026, with select accounts first. Wider access comes later. It’s one less thing to worry about if you’re a creator, and a cleaner view if you’re scrolling through your feed.
There are some limits. Certain categories can’t use the label, like dating services, alcohol, political or social campaigns, health products, and gambling in some regions. Crypto promotions are allowed outside restricted areas like the EU, UK, Australia, etc. but still require the label.
That’s all. Paid partnerships now have a proper label. Everything’s out in the open now, just like it should be.
