Four Solid Sci-Fi Picks
Want Sci-Fi This Weekend? Start With These
A few sci-fi movies worth seeing this weekend if you’re in the mood for something a little strange.
If you’re in a sci-fi mood this weekend, here are a few that are actually worth your time. Not the massive classics everyone’s already seen, just solid sci-fi with weird stuff happening.
Annihilation (2018)
A group of scientists enter a strange environmental zone where the laws of nature are quietly breaking down. It’s eerie, beautiful, and gets weirder the deeper it goes. Less about monsters, more about the unsettling feeling that reality itself is slightly off.
Ex Machina (2014)
A programmer is invited to a remote research house to test an advanced humanoid AI. Most of the movie is just three characters talking, but the tension slowly ramps up as the lines between experiment, manipulation, and curiosity start to blur.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
A soldier gets stuck reliving the same alien invasion battle over and over. It sounds like a gimmick, but the movie leans into it and it pays off. Also one of the few big-budget sci-fi films that’s genuinely fun.
Moon (2009)
Sam Rockwell plays a lone worker nearing the end of a long shift on a lunar mining base. Things start small and then slowly turn strange. It’s a thoughtful little sci-fi story about isolation, identity, and what corporations are willing to do to save money.
That’s all. More next week. See ya.
