Peter Parker Tries Again in Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer
Tom Holland's Peter Parker navigates life after being forgotten in the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
So the first proper trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day dropped yesterday. Tom Holland introduced it himself from the top of the Empire State Building at sunrise, which is either very on-brand for New York or a little much, depending on your tolerance for stunts like that. The movie's out July 31, for the calendar crowd.
Quick context: It's been about four years in-universe since No Way Home. Everyone still doesn't know Peter Parker is Spider-Man. MJ and Ned are at MIT living their lives, no memory of him. He's alone, visiting Aunt May's grave, doing the whole lonely hero thing. Then the plot thickens. Apparently spiders have three life cycles, and Peter's between them, which is making him vulnerable. There's a weird cocoon moment and hints he might develop organic webs. Bruce Banner shows up to explain the DNA mutation situation, and Jon Bernthal's Punisher hits him with a van at one point, which is a very Punisher way to meet someone.
New cast includes Sadie Sink, though her role's still under wraps. Michael Mando's Scorpion is back, and Marvin Jones III is playing Tombstone. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) takes over directing from Jon Watts. The vibe is less high school, more young adult trying to figure things out. You get the sense it's not a full restart, just a new phase.
