Smol and Orange
This Tiny Linux Computer Is The Cutest Thing Since Puppies
It's a smol Linux box you can turn into a router, a media player, a local AI machine and more, depending on what software you load.
Smol, orange, and pocket-sized, the Flipper One is Flipper Devices' answer to the Raspberry Pi 5. It needs your help.
What Actually Is It?
It's a very portable Linux computer you can turn into a router, media player, dev workstation, network sniffer, or a local AI machine depending on what modules and software you load.
The Specs
It's built around an octa-core Rockchip RK3576 processor (similar performance to a Raspberry Pi 5), has 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and an RP2350 microcontroller that handles the buttons, screen, and power management. It can run on its own even when the Linux side is turned off.
Connectivity:
- 2x Gigabit Ethernet ports
- Wi-Fi 6E (2.4/5/6 GHz)
- USB Ethernet (5 Gbps)
- Full-size HDMI 2.1 port (4K at 120Hz)
- 2x USB-C ports, 1x USB-A
- 3.5mm audio jack
- MicroSD card slot
- M.2 slot for SSDs, 5G modems, SDR modules, or AI accelerators
As with everything these days, it comes with AI. A 6 TOPS NPU is built in, so it can run local LLMs offline. The company wants to train small models to help users configure networking and troubleshoot without an internet connection. If that works the way it should, it'll be handy in the countryside.
But…
It's not done yet, but the company is open about their current status. They announced it now specifically to get feedback from devs before finalizing the hardware. There's a developer portal with public docs on everything: hardware, mechanics, firmware, Linux software, testing, and UI design if you'd like to peek. Link below. The list of what's still missing is long, but there's a Kickstarter campaign planned for late summer 2026.
The company's goal is a fully open ARM Linux device that doesn't become obsolete the moment it ships, and they want the open-source community to help fill the gaps. If you're interested, find a gap that's your size, and fill it.
