Apple AirPods Max 2: What You're Getting
Apple’s AirPods Max 2 start at $549, with the new H2 chip, better ANC, spatial audio, and studio-quality recording in a familiar design.
Apple just dropped the AirPods Max 2, priced at $549. They’re the follow-up to the original Max, keeping the high-end design but adding a few upgrades.
Quick Specs
- Chip: H2, powering improved Active Noise Cancellation and computational audio.
- Audio: Studio-quality recording and spatial audio support with dynamic head tracking.
- ANC: Up to 1.5x more effective than the first generation.
- Controls: Digital crown for volume and playback, plus a dedicated noise control button.
- Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.3, multi-device pairing, and Find My support.
- Battery: Around 20 hours with ANC and spatial audio active, fast charge available.
- Availability: Ships in early April.
The design is largely the same: stainless steel frame, breathable mesh headband, memory foam ear cushions. Apple hasn’t changed the look much, but the internals are upgraded.

Closer Look
The H2 chip brings improved ANC, which Apple says is about 1.5x more effective than before. That translates to quieter rooms, planes, and busy streets without cranking volume. Spatial audio is smoother too, and the headphones can now record audio in higher fidelity for compatible apps.
Battery life is similar to the original: around 20 hours with ANC on. Fast charging gives a few hours in 5 minutes, which is handy if you forget to top up before heading out.
Controls: a digital crown for volume/playback, plus a noise control button. They also support seamless switching between Apple devices, and Find My works if you misplace them.

AirPods Max 2 in Blue
So that’s the AirPods Max 2. The same looks wise, nice upgrades, and the price is very high-end. If you’re after premium audio in a well-built, Apple-friendly package, this is what’s new.
