Microsoft's New Image Model Just Hit #3 on the Leaderboard

Microsoft announced MAI-Image-2 this week, and it's already sitting at number three on the Arena.ai leaderboard. That puts it behind Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash and OpenAI's GPT Image 1.5, but ahead of Midjourney, Flux, and pretty much everything else.

The big upgrades are photorealism (natural light, accurate skin tones) and in-image text rendering, which has been a pain point where most models turn signs and posters into weird blurry text. Microsoft says this one actually handles infographics, slides, and diagrams cleanly.
